The Emerge Center
The Irene W. and C. B. Pennington Foundation’s ongoing support for Emerge transformed the organization and enabled it to serve an ever-increasing number of children with autism and individuals with communication challenges. The Pennington Family Foundation continues to underwrite Emerge.
Located in Baton Rouge, Emerge is the Gulf South’s largest nonprofit therapy provider for children with autism and Louisiana’s first and only charter school for students with autism. In a recent year, it served more than 2,000 children from 36 parishes.
Emerge has pioneered a collaborative care approach where therapists and educators work together as a team with the child and family at the center. Services include audiology, speech and occupational therapy, behavioral health, special education, and Applied Behavior Analysis, a therapy that focuses on positive changes in behavior. {Learn More}
