Since 2009, Girls on the Run has grown from an organization that served 24 girls in 2 schools in Baton Rouge. Today, the organization is located in 18 parishes and serves girls at over 70 schools. It hosts two annual 5K events in Baton Rouge and Acadiana.

Baton Rouge Symphony
The Irene W. and C. B. Pennington Foundation is proud to sponsor the yearly Pennington Great Performers in Concert Series with the Baton Rouge Symphony. The series, which brings top acts such as CHICAGO, Kristin Chenoweth, Lang Lang, and Diana Ross to Baton Rouge, is currently in its 16th year.
Athletes for Hope
The Pennington Family Foundation was honored to bring Athletes for Hope to Louisiana to launch AFH University, an initiative that brings AFH to college campuses to conduct life skills workshops for University teams, engaging student-athletes and coaches in discussions about the importance of community service and creative ways to use the power of sport and their unique platform in the community.

Vapor Wake Dogs // 09.21.2018
Through the generosity of Tiger Athletic Foundation, Claude Pennington and the Irene W. and C. B. Pennington Foundation, the LSU Police Department has added two new explosive-detecting K-9s to join its two traditional explosive detection dogs already on the force. Jazz and Weeks are Labrador retrievers, trained to detect explosives and other substances, even as their target is moving.
Irene W. and C.B. Pennington Foundation President & CEO Lori Bertman wrote an article on trust, transparency, and tips for more effective funder-grantee relationships for the Open Road Alliance. The Open Road Alliance is a private philanthropic initiative that serves the social sector by keeping impact on track in an unpredictable world.
The founding members of the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Alliance (LDRA) have awarded seven grants totalling $175,000 from the Joint Fund for Recovery & Resilience to meet pressing recovery needs and rebuild healthy and resilient communities throughout Louisiana.
